MOODBOARD & IDEAS
I’ve always loved the Nintendo’s environments, especially on Zelda ! I had the idea for this video when I started playing Breath Of The Wild again after a while, and koroks were just too cute and adorable to not remake in my style !
Except this time I wanted one of my characters, Flip Flop, to actually be part of this world :) So I thought “Why not make him the main character this time ?” That’s how I came up with the whole “Flip Flop meets Koroks” idea, I wanted Flip Flop to enter the Zelda realms, meet koroks and befriend them !
However, what motivated me most with this idea was the making of the environment, there’s something really soothing about creating a peaceful, warm and bucolic place, alongside being able to remake some of my favourite game mascott, so it was a win on all fronts !
MODELING
PROCESS
Figuring out what the environment would look like was the trickiest part, I used a free add on called “Sapling tree” which allowed me to generate many kind of trees and edit their settings to my liking! That’s how I managed to create a bunch of bulky trees and even animate them !
However, it took me a couple of trials before getting the trees and overall forest to a place I was satisfied with.

GRASS, PLANTS,
& FLOWERS
To fill in the grass, i modeled a couple of flowers, mushrooms, and other plants which i proceeded to scatter using weight paint and vertice groups!
ATMOSPHERE
After finishing the forest, I needed to make sure the koroks actually fit in. It had to look like it was straight out of the game, if not better. That’s how i started tackling the Atmosphere and Lighting of the scenery.
I figured adding some sun rays (made using planes and emissive shading with alpha) would be the most efficient way to make the environment look more vibrant and alive !
